Alternative Sunday Social Club Presents: The Prongs

About the show

The Prongs will celebrate the launch of their new album, Flat Would Suit Professional Gent, with an all-ages afternoon show at the Alternative Sunday Social Club in The Sound House, Eden Quay, on November 22nd.

Since emerging from the pages of a cult novel, The Now Now Express by John Fleming, in 2023, The Prongs have conquered theatrical venues, dinge bars and festivals all over their native Ireland as well as in cultural centres abroad. The BBC’s Gideon Coe revealed them as his firm faves with multiple airplays for The Photographic Brains and Fake Samuel Pepys. Punk legend and broadcaster Tom Robinson deemed 2025’s single Hey! Dandy his single of the week, the song attracting airplays numbering in the1000s worldwide.

Flat Would Suit Professional Gent follows the ep Psychogeography and 2023’s mini-album Theme from The Now Now Express, developing further the striking essence the band first revealed. Niall Toner Jr’s musical artistry and John Fleming’s lean literate lyrics fuse into this work of elevated new wave and pop. It will be available on vinyl, compact disc and digital.  Work meanwhile, also nears completion on a full-length feature film plus an album of collaborations with other artists, due next year.
