An Éan Dubh as part of The Scéal Festival of Puppetry & Storytelling

An Éan Dubh as part of The Scéal Festival of Puppetry & Storytelling

About the event

An Éan Dubh is a sequence of short stories exploring the mythology of the crow, the rook, and the raven. These three birds bound to the Morrigan, the Cailleach, and the world beyond the veil.

Each story is told through a different style of puppetry, building in complexity and intimacy. A cloak transforms magically into a bird. A mask plays with scale and the corvid’s vast, unsettling presence. Finally, a hand-held, hand-crafted felt puppet brings the bird up close. It’s detailed, tactile, and alive. Together the three forms create a journey from the elemental to the intimate, rooted in the dark and luminous lore of Irish mythology.
