BOOKED OUT - Culture Club: Fossil Marvels at the Dead Zoo Lab

About the event

Join us for a free Culture Club at the National Museum of Ireland - Dead Zoo Lab in Collins Barracks followed by tea, coffee and chats.

Extinct creatures turned to stone, huge plants vanished from the face of the Earth, and world-class fossils: all are held in the geology collections of the National Museum of Ireland.

Join Dr Patrick Roycroft, Curator of Geology, for an introduction to some of these fossil marvels, which span the immensity of geologic time and cross countries and continents … including Ireland. What is more, all of these creatures and plants are your cousins!

The Dead Zoo Lab at Collins Barracks offers members of the public an opportunity to explore, engage with and enjoy some of the most popular specimens from the natural history collection, as well as some specimens that haven’t been on display for many years, while the Natural History Museum on Merrion Street is closed for much needed conservation and refurbishment works.

This talk will be 30 minutes followed by 15 minutes for questions and then tea & coffee.

Please meet you Culture Club host 10 minutes before the Culture Club start time in the main reception of Collins Barracks and the group will head to the Dead Zoo Lab together.
