Heritage Week Outreach: Aonach na nDéise - Woodstown Viking Site Heritage Festival, Co. Waterford

About the event

This Heritage Week, the Archaeology Education and Outreach Team from the National Museum of Ireland at Kildare Street will be bringing the Viking Handling Collection down to Waterford to take part in the Áonach na nDéise - Woodstown Viking Heritage Festival. There, they will be joined by Déise Medieval, Waterford City and County Council, TVAS Archaeology, the Discovery Programme and Abarta Heritage for a fun filled Viking Day!

Bring a family picnic and enjoy kiddie viking games, battle re-enactments and browse the Viking Craft Village. Try the Viking Artefact Challenge with the Education Department from the Museum, where you will have a chance to try the Museum’s hands-on activity ‘Viking Artefact Detective’ in which people will explore replica Viking objects to figure out what they were, how they were used, and how they were made.

For more details on this event, please see the Heritage Week website.

Please note that this event is an outreach event by the Education and Outreach Department and will take place in Woodstown, Co. Waterford. For more details please see the Heritage Week website.
