About the event

POSTPONED

South Dublin County Partnership presents a special free screening of Home: The Story of Zak Moradi.

The screening will be followed by a special post-film conversation with Zak Moradi.

Born in a Kurdish refugee camp, Zak came to Ireland as a child and went on to build a life here through friendship, community and sport. Many people will know him through his story as a hurler, and this documentary gives audiences a chance to hear the wider story behind that journey.

Home follows Zak’s journey from his childhood in a Kurdish refugee camp to his life in Ireland, exploring identity, belonging, resilience and what it means to find home. The film also reflects on the way Kurdish and Irish cultures have shaped his life, and on the role sport and local community can play in helping people feel welcome.

The documentary tells the inspiring story of Zak Moradi, who arrived in Ireland as a refugee from Iraq and went on to become an inter-county hurler with Leitrim, winning the Lory Meagher Cup and earning recognition as one of the country’s most prominent refugee athletes.
