A Musical Journey Through Childhood
Join acclaimed Irish pianist Thérèse Fahy for a charming and imaginative concert celebrating the joy, innocence and limitless imagination of childhood.
The programme brings together some of France’s most enchanting music, beginning with Claude Debussy’s Children’s Corner, a delightful and virtuosic suite inspired by his young daughter, Chouchou. Written as a musical gift for her, these pieces capture the humour, tenderness and wonder of a child’s world.
The programme continues with two much-loved characters from Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals, The Elephant and The Swan, followed by Francis Poulenc’s The Story of Babar, a beloved musical tale that brings Jean de Brunhoff’s famous elephant to life through music and narration.
Adding a contemporary voice to the programme is the Irish premiere of Papa Bear, composed by Frédéric Borceux in 2026, offering a fresh and playful addition to this celebration of childhood.
Thérèse Fahy is joined on stage by double bassist Dominic Dudley and narrator Michelle Nolan O’Driscoll, creating an engaging blend of music, storytelling and character. This is a concert designed to spark the imagination and invite audiences of all ages into a world where music and stories come alive.
