Clara & Brahms: A Musical Friendship
Join us for an afternoon exploring one of the most remarkable friendships in the history of music — the extraordinary relationship between Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.
Bound by deep affection, mutual admiration and a shared passion for music, Clara and Brahms maintained a lifelong correspondence in which they exchanged ideas, shared the intimate details of their lives, and profoundly influenced one another’s artistic development. Their relationship was complex, deeply personal and, above all, rooted in an extraordinary musical understanding.
This programme brings their connection to life through two masterpieces of the chamber repertoire: Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 17 and Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34. Written at different moments in their lives, these works reveal the distinctive voices of two composers whose musical worlds were closely intertwined.
Through the richness, intensity and emotional depth of this repertoire, the concert explores not only Clara and Brahms as composers, but also the fascinating relationship that connected them.
An afternoon of beautiful chamber music offering a glimpse into the lives and artistic bond of two extraordinary figures whose connection continues to captivate audiences today.
