Three Stories, Three Masterpieces
Join the Laragh Trio — flute, cello and piano — for a captivating concert entitled Trailblazers that brings together three remarkable works by J.S. Bach, Louise Farrenc and Bohuslav Martinů. Each piece offers more than extraordinary music: it carries a story shaped by the social, cultural and personal world in which it was created.

Bach’s Sonata in E major takes us into the evolving history of the flute and the changing possibilities of the instrument in the eighteenth century.

Louise Farrenc’s Trio Sonata, Op. 45, opens a window onto nineteenth-century Paris and the remarkable career of a woman composer who challenged the inequalities of the musical establishment of her time.

Martinů’s Trio Sonata, H.300, written during the upheaval of World War II, speaks with particular poignancy of displacement, memory and longing for the homeland left behind.

Performed by three celebrated musicians in a dynamic new collaboration, the Laragh Trio brings together virtuosity, colour and musical intimacy in a programme that crosses centuries and borders inviting audiences to listen beyond the notes and discover the human stories at the heart of these remarkable works.
