NCH presents This Story So Far

About the show

For 45 years, the musicians of This Story So Far have been at the forefront of contemporary Irish music-shaping its sound at home and carrying it far beyond Ireland. These world-class players have contributed to hundreds of groundbreaking and genre-defining recordings, including The Storm, The Brendan Voyage, Riverdance, EastWind, Coolfin, Common Ground and The Long Black Veil.

For this one-off National Concert Hall performance, the collective will draw inspiration from the music of The Bothy Band and Planxty before expanding into the electric, world-music and celtic-rock space that these musicians helped to define. A powerful traditional front line—featuring Mark Redmond on uilleann pipes and whistles alongside Ken Edge on saxophones—meets a full electric rhythm section, with some very special guests joining the ensemble.

Their remarkable collective history encompasses recordings and performances with Van Morrison, Christy Moore, U2, Moving Hearts, Hothouse Flowers, Dervish, Arty McGlynn, Mary Black, Eleanor McEvoy, Dolores Keane, Moya Brennan, Clannad, Paul Brady, The Corrs and Secret Garden—as well as international collaborations with Sting, Crowded House, Elvis Costello, Glen Hansard, Brian Eno, Dave Stewart, Genesis, Chris Rea, Fairground Attraction, Mike + The Mechanics, Mike Oldfield, Dan Ar Braz, Rufus Wainwright, Ronan Keating, Boris Grebenshchikov, Paul Young and Sinéad O’Connor.
