Soap Sisters is one family’s story of adoption and the secrets they keep. It’s about motherhood, shame, sisters and… soap operas.

This new one-act play is written by Siân Quill and directed by Sarah Baxter.

‘The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb’ - ancient proverb.

Soap Sisters centres around Maureen and her two adopted daughters, Sue Ellen and Pamela (yes, Maureen was an avid Dallas fan!). With Maureen dying and the two sisters at her bedside, time is running out and secrets are bubbling up. They bicker, banter, laugh and sing. Hidden lives are revealed, accusations are made but can peace be restored before it’s too late?

Siân Quill lives with her two adult children (and their bonkers dog, Teddy) in Bray, Co Wicklow. Originally from a theatre background, Siân is a scriptwriter for RTE’s Fair City. She also writes for children’s TV shows - most recently for Cartoon Saloon’s preschool animated TV series Silly Sundays (RTÉ Jr & RTÉ player).
