The Song of the Singing Horseman - Jimmy MacCarthy
About the show
Jimmy MacCarthy – The Song of the Singing Horseman
One of Ireland’s most revered songwriters, Jimmy MacCarthy has written many of the most beloved songs in modern Irish music. His extraordinary catalogue includes classics such as Ride On, No Frontiers, The Contender, As I Leave Behind Neidin, Ancient Rain and Mystic Lipstick — songs recorded by legendary artists including Christy Moore, Mary Black, Mary Coughlan, Maura O'Connell and The Corrs. On Wed 14 October 2026, the National Concert Hall welcomes Jimmy MacCarthy and his band The Acoustic Horseman for The Song of the Singing Horseman — a special evening celebrating songs that have become part of Ireland’s musical heritage.
Featuring performances with Nollaig Casey and string quartet performing arrangements by Casey and Bill Whelan, alongside special guest musicians including Steve Cooney, James Blennerhassett and Paul McAteer.
A rare opportunity to hear these iconic songs — and the stories behind them — performed live by the songwriter himself.
