Iveagh Gardens

Overview

The Iveagh Gardens are one of Dublin City's least known parks and gardens. The gardens display a diverse collection of landscape features which include rustic grottos, sunken formal panels of lawn with fountain centre pieces, wilderness, woodlands, a yew maze, a rosarium, an American garden, archery grounds, rockeries and rooteries. Their history goes back 300 years.

The conservation and restoration of the Iveagh Gardens commenced in 1995 and to date, most of the features have been restored and includes pre-1860s rose varieties.

The water feature has rock samples from each of the 32 counties of Ireland.

Gardens close according to daylight hours.

This hidden area, dubbed Dublin's "secret garden," feels miles apart from the nearby, constantly-bustling St Stephen's Green.
While friends chat over elegant picnics and a bottle of wine after work, employees from nearby offices stop by for a quick lunch.
A serene background is provided by chirping birds and gushing waterfalls.

In Dublin, Ireland, between Clonmel Street and Upper Hatch Street, next to the National Concert Hall, are the Iveagh Gardens (/avi/; Irish: Gairdn U Eachach).
It is recognized as a National Historic Property and is a national park as opposed to a municipal park.
In contrast to other green spaces in Dublin, the gardens are almost entirely surrounded by buildings, making them less apparent and a little more difficult to locate.
They are thus one of Dublin's best-kept secrets.
