About the film

When the dead bodies of mutilated livestock are discovered near a rural Korean village, word spreads that a tiger has been spotted in the nearby hills. While the local police chief anda group of hunters separately race to capture the animal, it quickly becomes apparent that this is not a tiger, but something more mysterious and much more dangerous.

Cult director Na Hong-jin (The Wailing,The Yellow Sea) returns with a film unlike anythingelse in cinemas this year. A fast-paced mash-up of action, drama, science-fiction and horror, Hope was the hottest ticket at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and is big screen cinema at its very best. Thrilling, ambitious and thoroughly entertaining, Hope will leave you breathless.

‘Some uproarious rock’n’roll moviemaking from Korean director Na Hong-jin, a sci-fi action thriller mixing digital work with old-school analogue entertainment values...’

★★★★ The Guardian

‘Hope isn't just a monster movie, though. One of the most expensive Korean films ever made, it races from modern-day western to action thriller to horror film to science-fiction epic – all while retaining the full-throttle energy and sweaty cult-movie atmosphere of a 1970s exploitation flick’
