Rounds of Thought will be on in Kitty O'Sheas, 25 Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2, all month long, bringing the idea of creating something very simple: put the phone down, pull up a chair and spend an evening listening, questioning and talking to other people. There are no conference lanyards, no networking agenda and no requirement to know anything about the subject before coming along. The events are designed to be accessible, social and genuinely conversational, with expert speakers covering everything from creativity and neurodivergence to psychology, memory, neuroscience and democracy. There are now three events remaining this September: Tuesday, 15 September – Aoife DooleyThe Creative Mind: Finding Your Voice Through Humour and Honesty Award-winning Dublin illustrator, writer and comedian Aoife Dooley explores neurodivergence, creativity, humour and honesty, and how understanding her own mind helped her find the voice that now defines her work. Tuesday, 22 September – Professor Ciara GreeneWhy Forgetting Might Actually Be Your Superpower UCD Professor of Psychology Ciara Greene looks at why forgetting is not necessarily a failure of memory, why our minds let information go and how memory is far more reconstructive than we tend to realise. Monday, 28 September – Professor Shane O'MaraThinking Together: How Our Minds Shape Each Other & What That Means for Democracy Trinity College Dublin neuroscientist Professor Shane O'Mara explores how our minds influence one another, how people reason and make decisions collectively, and what neuroscience can tell us about democracy and the societies we build together.
