This is a rare opportunity to explore the rich heritage of the Docklands area and uncover the unique story behind the building, its architecture, and its role in shaping the city. The CHQ Building, originally known as Stack A, was constructed in the early 19th century as part of the broader Custom House docks complex. This tour offers the chance to step back in time and discover the building’s original purpose as a bonded warehouse for storing valuable cargo including tobacco, tea, wine and spirits.

On the CHQ tour, you’ll also hear the fascinating story of its transformation into a grand Banqueting Hall in 1856, when thousands gathered for an enormous celebration in honour of Irish soldiers returning from the Crimean War.
