UPCOMING EXHIBITION: Afterglow - Karen Lee

About the exhibition

AFTERGLOW

Afterglow explores the way places remain with us long after we have left them.

Rather than depicting recognisable landscapes, Karen Lee draws on the fragments that memory chooses to keep — a colour, a horizon, a quality of light, a fleeting sense of place. Details disappear, colours shift and certain moments become heightened while others soften with time.

Through layers of colour, texture and gestural marks, the works occupy the space between remembering and forgetting. Flashes of neon emerge through quieter, muted tones like moments of recollection breaking through. While rooted in Karen’s own memories, the landscapes are deliberately ambiguous, inviting the viewer to find something of their own within them — somewhere once known, half remembered, but still glowing.
