Blackrock Library

Blackrock Library

Overview

Blackrock Library sits on Main Street in the heart of Blackrock, in a 1905 Carnegie building that keeps many of its original features. Renovated in 2014, it has a mezzanine study area, an attractive Reading Room used for events, and a local history collection alongside its books for adults and children.

A Carnegie library on Main Street

Blackrock Library is one of the Carnegie libraries built across Ireland in the early 1900s with funding from the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. The 1905 building was fully renovated in 2014, adding a mezzanine study area while keeping its period character.

The Reading Room hosts activities for all ages, and the library has an interesting local history collection, sensory toys for younger visitors and age-friendly tablets.
