Clontarf Promenade

Clontarf Promenade

Overview

Clontarf Promenade stretches along Dublin Bay from Fairview to the Bull Wall at Dollymount on the city's Northside. It is a long, level seafront path with beautiful views across the bay, a dedicated cycle track and an outdoor gym.

It is perfect for a walk, a run or a cycle, and links up with Bull Island and St Anne's Park.

History

The promenade was reclaimed from the sea in the 1920s and finally completed in the late 1950s.

Art along the way

Look out for Sails by Éamonn O'Doherty (1988), and Maoi by Alejandro Pakarati (2004), a statue in the style of the Easter Island moai, donated by the government of Chile.

Getting there

The promenade runs along Clontarf Road, Dublin 3. Clontarf Road DART station is close to its western end, and Dublin Bus routes run along Clontarf Road. Fairview Park is at the city end, and at the other end the Bull Wall leads onto Bull Island. St Anne's Park is across the road at Dollymount.

Opening hours

Clontarf Promenade is an open seafront path with no gates, so you can walk it at any time of day. Take care after dark and in stormy weather.
