Dodder Park and Dropping Well

Dodder Park and Dropping Well

Overview

Dodder Park and the Dropping Well open space run along the River Dodder near Milltown on Dublin's Southside. The riverbank paths make a pleasant walk, and the river is home to a rich variety of birds, animals and insects.

The river links a string of green spaces and sports grounds, and is a popular fishing spot for members of the Dodder Angling Association.

Nature and fishing

Walk quietly and you may spot herons and other river birds along the water. Fishing on this stretch is managed by the Dodder Angling Association, so check their rules and permits before you cast.

Getting there

The open space is off Orwell Gardens, between Dartry and Milltown, beside the Dropping Well pub. The Milltown Luas stop (Green Line) is about ten minutes' walk away. Upstream, Dartry Park continues the riverside walk. See our guide to the River Dodder for more.
