John Paul Park
Overview
John Paul Park, also known as Pope John Paul Park, is a sports park in Cabra, north-west of the city centre. It has three soccer pitches, two GAA pitches, changing facilities and an outdoor gym.
It is also home to Cabra Parkside Community Sports Centre.
Getting there
The park is in Cabra, Dublin 7, off the Navan Road side of Cabra West. Dublin Bus routes serve Cabra, and the Cabra and Broombridge Luas stops (Green Line) are within reach. Ventry Park is close by, and the Phoenix Park is a short trip south-west.
Opening hours
Like most Dublin City Council parks, John Paul Park opens at 10am every day and closes around dusk, so closing time changes through the year:
- January and December: 5pm
- February and November: 5.30pm
- March: 6.30pm, then 7.30pm once the clocks go forward
- April and September: 8.30pm
- May and August: 9.30pm
- June and July: 10pm
- October: 7.30pm, then 6.30pm once the clocks go back
Parks with several gates may start closing up to half an hour before these times.
