Riverrun Garden

Riverrun Garden

Overview

Riverrun Garden is a small garden in the grounds of Phibsborough Library, by Blacquiere Bridge on the North Circular Road. It began life as a show garden at Bloom, Ireland's garden festival in the Phoenix Park, and was designed to celebrate Dublin as a UNESCO City of Literature.

Its name is the first word of James Joyce's Finnegans Wake, "riverrun", a fitting title for a garden outside a library.

Visiting

The garden is a calm place to sit with a book, borrowed from the library next door. It is small, so it pairs well with a visit to the library or a walk along the North Circular Road.

Getting there

Riverrun Garden is beside Phibsboro Library on the North Circular Road, Dublin 7, near Phibsborough village. The Phibsborough Luas stop (Green Line) is a short walk away. Blessington Street Basin is about ten minutes' walk, and Glasnevin Cemetery and the National Botanic Gardens are a short bus ride north.
