Crafternoon Tea with Candle Making Workshop
Date: Sat 10 Oct
Location: The Séamus Ennis Arts Centre, Naul

Join Denise Dunne from The Herb School for a fun and informative talk and demo on some of our native Irish herbs that have been traditionally associated with Samhain.
This seasonal talk and workshop will explore the fascinating connection between witches and wise women healers in Irish history. Discover how traditional bean feasa (wise women) used their deep knowledge of herbs for healing, protection, and ritual at this liminal time of year.
During the session, we’ll look at plants long associated with Halloween and Samhain, such as elder, mugwort, and yarrow, with live examples and stories of their uses in folklore and medicine.
You’ll enjoy a wild herb tea tasting made from seasonal berries, seeds, and leaves, while watching a demonstration on how to weave a protective Samhain Parshall cross from rowan twigs, and how to create a mugwort smudge stick.
Join us for an afternoon of folklore, herbal wisdom, and a touch of enchantment - perfect for anyone who is curious about the roots of our Halloween herbal traditions.
