Bridgefoot Street Park is a two-acre community park in the Liberties, between Bridgefoot Street and Bonham Street, close to the Liffey quays. Opened in 2022, it is one of the newest parks in Dublin city and was designed with local people.
It has a community garden, play areas, grassy mounded terraces and more than 180 trees, and it is open on all four sides, so it doubles as a green shortcut through the neighbourhood.
The park grew out of a community design process in 2017 and was designed by Dermot Foley Landscape Architects for Dublin City Council. It was built on the site of a former housing complex, and much of the old material was reused: paths are laid with old paving slabs, bricks and broken concrete set as crazy paving. Wildflower planting helps pollinators.
The community garden, run by volunteers, grows fruit, vegetables and flowers and holds market days. The park is part of the Liberties Greening Strategy and was shortlisted for the Green Cities Europe Award in 2023.
The park is on Bridgefoot Street, Dublin 8, just up from Usher's Quay and a short walk from Thomas Street. The Guinness Storehouse and Roe & Co Distillery are close by, and St Catherine's Church is around the corner.
Like most Dublin City Council parks, Bridgefoot Street Park opens at 10am every day and closes around dusk, so closing time changes through the year:
Parks with several gates may start closing up to half an hour before these times.
