Stardust Memorial Park

Stardust Memorial Park

Overview

Stardust Memorial Park in Coolock, on Dublin's Northside, was opened on 18 September 1993 in memory of the 48 young people who died in the Stardust nightclub fire in Artane in February 1981.

At its centre is a memorial fountain with a bronze sculpture of a dancing couple. It is a quiet place for reflection and a much-loved local park.

The memorial

The bronze sculpture of a couple dancing, by Robin Buick, stands in a circular pool, with 48 jets of water, one for each of the victims. Forty-eight birch trees were also planted around the memorial in 1993. Dublin City Council refurbished the park ahead of the 40th anniversary of the fire in 2021. Please be respectful when visiting.

Getting there

The park is in Bonnybrook, Coolock, Dublin 17, off the Kilmore Road. Dublin Bus routes serve Coolock and the Malahide Road. Belcamp Park and Darndale Park are a short trip north.
