Presentation in Theatre: 4 pm, Sunday 15th November 2026

As part of the Co. Wicklow EU Presidency Culture Programme, the Whale Theatre is delighted to offer this wonderful opportunity to artists, theatre makers and actors to explore, collaborate and create in our beautiful theatre space. Guthanna Eile / Other Voices will use the Irish language as a lens to create a short piece about our relationship with the land through a series of four theatre workshops and culminating in a presentation of the work in the Whale Theatre.

This invitation is for anyone who wants to explore creating bilingually, whether you are proficient as Gaeilge, cúpla focail or no focal at all!

Callout:

We invite artists and theatre makers, interested in experimenting with the Irish language in their practice and exploring the relationship between the land and the variety of voices it inspires and influences. Responding to the vivid landscapes in and around Greystones, nestled between mountains and sea, artists will explore how we can find new voices that speak in tune with our environments.

This exciting project is presented in collaboration with The Whale Theatre and Scaoilte, as part of The Whale Theatre’s Shared Voices festival celebrating the European Union Presidency Cultural programme and will be facilitated by Cian Ó Náraigh and Martha Cosgrove.

The series will take place over four 2-hour workshops (Saturday October 10th, 17th, 24th, and November 7th) with a final sharing of a short co-created bilingual piece on November 15th. The piece itself will be about 20 minutes in length and will be created through the process of the workshops.
