Silent City

‘Silent City’ will explore depictions of the deserted urban landscape across the island of Ireland, comprising photography, painting, print and drawing dating from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Many artists are compelled by vacant, quiet and ghostly urban settings for their poetic quality, narrative potential, and architectural beauty. Touching on themes of memory, reverie, dereliction, and solitude, this exhibition poses a unique opportunity for visitors to experience new acquisitions and works from the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Ireland featured alongside one another.
