The landlord is slightly cranky, the floor is uneven, but at least it's warm thanks to the pot-bellied stove in the corner.
Oh, and speaking of toasties, if it's a calm afternoon, ask nicely and the bartender will make you a traditional grilled cheese and ham sandwich.
